Amazon Customer –
When I received my product it had yellow/orange stains all over the base of the wooden base that the crane sits on. There were also two stains on the top where the track to “load” the trains were. Most probably would keep the product but I’m trying to build a heirloom collection that my kids can pass to their kids and so on. I do NOT want to start that with purchasing defective goods. Have to say I’m pretty disappointed that Brio who advertise that they painstakingly select wood that is blemish free and use European beech wood would make a product such as this. The other wood pieces were so perfect that I’m holding out hope for the replacement that will be here soon. This was my very first Brio product, remains to be seen if it will also be my last.Update: Nov 3, 2015 – Got my 2nd Brio package. Awesome customer service on Amazon’s end to send me the replacement product within 24 hours of placing my replacement request. This second wood base also has a stain but only one. I tried looking it up to see if this was common in wood products and am not seeing anything that says that way. I am going to keep this second one since other than the stain the toy is really well made. No splintering in the little bit of wood I have, plastic is smooth with no pointy odds and ends poking out. The magnets work and really the crane is pure genius how it works. I might try a wood cleaner to get the stain off and post on that later if that works. Updated to 4 starts, docked 1 for the stain.

The action of lift a load from a train car then depositing it onto a waiting truck is great for my 2 1/2 year old who loves all things mechanical. The knobs the child needs to turn could be better designed to enable small hand to more easily turn them.

My grandson went head over heels upon receiving this Freight Goods Station to add to his collection of Brio toys. The toy has been built so it will last a very long time with proper use.

This was a Christmas gift for my 4yr old grandson, who loves his Brio track and trains. The quality is what I expect from Brio and he loves this freight set.My main complaint is the Amazon shipped it without putting it in any box besides the one in the picture and slapped a shipping label smack dab on the front and it was delivered that way! Had my grandson been here at the time he would have seen his gift. Plus, the label could not be removed! Very disappointed Amazon would ship that way!

My 7 year grandson has been playing with this since Christmas, a month ago. He has figured out several ways to use it with his Thomas train set. No batteries needed. He loves it.

This is very cool, but the βdumpβ button must be pushed with a too-precise pressure/speed for the cargo to go into the dump truck, and not hit the cargo on the crane (this is too low, and the cargo will catch on it if you simply press the button). Getting this balance is something I was able to get right about 1/5 times, and impossible for my 3-yr-old of course. Lowering the crane takes a good deal of dexterity and power, and is suitable for at least a 5-year-old. Through avoiding these issues my 3 yr old wiggled parts loose in weeks, making it entirely useless. But unfortunately the design flaw above makes it a bad purchase even for that age. Get the wheeled cargo crane instead.

Brio has always made great wooden toys for children. My 3y/o grandson and his pop pop had a great time deciding on the track direction and the cars worked perfectly. Great deal for the cost.
